Icing Magnetix Nail Polish

Warning: Pic Heavy! ☺
Today I'm going to show you swatches of one of the new Icing Magnetix colors I picked up last week! I had seen swatches of these online, and since China Glaze hasn't released their collection in stores yet, I wanted to give these a try.
The first polish I'm going to show you is a dusty, pink and purple metallic with magenta shimmer running through it. You can find these at Icing stores, and they are normally 'buy one, get one half off.' What's kind of lame about this collection, though, is that there aren't any names for these colors. :(

Basically, the premise of magnetic polish is that you paint your nails with the color, and then, while the polish is still wet, you hold the magnet really close to your nail without touching it. The magnet forms a design in the nail polish as you hold it to your nail. It definitely takes a little practice. I'm not going to lie, I had to do a whole hand over because I kept accidentally touching the magnet to my nail and ruining my polish. ☺
With the Icing polish, there are two different ways to hold the magnet to your nail, therefore you can get two different designs, depending on the way you hold the magnet. You can see the first design in the first picture, and the second design in the picture above.

The outer cap comes off with the magnet on the top, making it much easier to use, rather that having the magnet attached to the brush.
You can see in the picture above that there are two different ways to hold the magnet to your nail, with the two plastic props you can set against your cuticle so that the magnet won't touch your nail.

The outer cap comes with instructions on how to use the polish.

I definitely like the design above better, after taking these pictures, I re-painted my other hand with this design.

This design reminds me of shark gill slits. Yikes.

So, what do you think about magnetic nail polish? Do you think it's unique, or will you pass on it? I like it so far, and I can't wait to try other colors and brands!

  1. Very cool!!!!!! I was at Ulta a few nights ago and they had some and it was almost $20 a bottle! I normally don't pay over $3.99, much less $20! They can keep that!
