St. Patrick's Day Mani #2: Irish Tuxedo

How is everyone's weekend so far? My weekend is off to a great start, I spent the morning with my husband before he went to work, and tonight I am going shopping with my mom.
Today I am going to show you another St. Patrick's Day manicure called the Irish Tuxedo. I did a black and white tuxedo pedicure a few weeks ago here. I've been wanting to do a tuxedo manicure for a while now, so I decided to do a green one for SPD.
First, I used one coat of Get A Clue and one coat of Incognito from Color Club's Alter Ego Collection. I used one coat of each color to try and get a nude color for my base, but it ended up being more pink than nude. In the end, though, I liked how the green and pink looked together.
I then used green acrylic paint to paint the bow ties and tips, and then I used my dotting tool from Sephora to make the buttons. The acrylic paint keep peeling off of my tips, so I put a coat of Revlon Emerald City over the paint on my tips to make the manicure last longer. I then topped everything off with a coat of Poshe.

The picture below was right after I was finished, before I cleaned the paint from my skin around the nails.

Overall, I really really liked this manicure. The hardest part was making a straight line for my tips. This manicure is a somewhat toned down SPD manicure, but I just love how the green looked! I'm calling this the Irish Tuxedo manicure!
What do you think? Have you every tried a tuxedo manicure?

Revlon Chili

Revlon Chili has been sitting in my nail polish stash for me to try out for months now, and I'm so glad I finally did. Chili is a part of Revlon's Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel line, and it is a bright red that leans more towards orange than blue. Chili applied brilliantly; it was two effortless coats of color. It has somewhat of a jelly finish because I can see some visible nail line and it has that "rock candy" look to it. Chili also dries really quickly, too. This color just screams summer to me. No matter how many unique colors of nail polish are in the industry today, red will always be a classic manicure. I always feel like I'm channeling the 1950s when I wear red nail polish. (For a really interesting history on nail polish, click here.)
So, there you have it. If you are looking for an inexpensive, warm, summer red to buy, check this baby out. I got it at CVS for around $5. But you can almost always find them on sale. I can't wait to try out some "jelly-sandwiches" with this color. :)

Outside (Sorry, it was a cloudy day!)

The picture below was taken indoors.

Revlon Vixen

According to the All Lacquered Up nail polish blog, Revlon Vixen is a known dupe for the original Chanel Vamp, which appeared on Uma Thurman's nails in Pulp Fiction. So, I went to the nearest CVS to see what all the fuss was about.
I read that Vixen is supposed to look like dried blood, so I knew that even if I didn't like it, my mom would love it. (She loves blood-red shades. Don't ask me why, but that's just what I've heard all of my life. ☺) I also had read that this polish had a bad bubble problem, which I actually did not experience.
This polish did cover completely with no bubbles, but for some reason I remember it taking about three coats to be an even dark color. Vixen is certainly opaque and very shiny with a top coat, but I was expecting it to pull more red than it appears to. To me, it looks more brown than red. I don't mean to be gross, but I guess a scab is dried blood, and a scab is brown? Ewwww, gross, I know! =P
For those of you who love dark, vampy colors, however, this is the color for you. It's a cheap option at around $5-6 instead of paying big bucks for a Chanel polish. This is a perfect color for Fall. I really do love a good, glossy creme, but for some reason I wasn't feeling the brownish-hue, so I added an Nfu-Oh flakie polish the next day, and then it became instant LOVE! I will post pictures of that lovely combo later.
What do you think? Do you wear dark colors only in Fall/Winter, or would you rock this color all year long?

Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick in Softsilver Red

Where Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl Lipstick in Softsilver Rose is more of a Raspberry color, Softsilver Red is more of a strawberry color.  Softsilver Red has a warmer, more reddish-coral undertone. For information about the formula and wear, see Softsilver Rose.
I think I like Softsilver Red better, simply because my skin has warm undertones. This color would be a great summer lipstick because it reminds me of a juicy strawberry or watermelon on a sizzlin' hot day.

In the picture above, Softsilver Rose is on the left, and Softsilver Red is on the right, and you can see the cooler undertones in SS Rose.
Softsilver Red is such a gorgeous color. Revlon has an array of lipstick colors to choose from, and I think everyone can find a shade for them. Will you be heading to the Revlon section next time you look for a lipstick? Let me know what you get! :)

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Pearl in Softsilver Rose

Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick is one of the better options of drugstore lipsticks on the market, as they are only $5-$8, they have nice pigment, and they do not have a nasty cheap-lipstick smell.

I've read that Softsilver Rose is very popular among women, and it has won many awards in beauty magazines. I'm not sure if it is a favorite because it's mentioned in so many magazines, or if it's mentioned a lot because many women actually buy it - who knows. But, it actually is a very nice color. The color is more of a raspberry-rose, and I think it definitely has cooler undertones.

This color in particular is very pigmented, the formula is better than most drugstore lipsticks, and it's wonderful that it doesn't have a plastic or chemical smell. My lips feel a little dry after application. You can add a nice gloss over the lipstick, but I still think you can feel the lipstick underneath.

Overall, this is a great drugstore lipstick, and there is a whole rainbow of colors to choose from. These lipsticks are also sealed with plastic when you purchase, so you know some person hasn't tried it out before you put it on your lips. Thanks, Revlon! These lipsticks are cheapest at Wal-mart and Target, but if you boycott those places (lol), CVS and Walgreens will have them buy-one-get-one-half-off sometimes. :)
